This is an ideal base for all types of holiday, 35 minutes by car from Benidorm to the north and 25 minutes to Torrevieja in the south there is always some where new to go.

Santa Pola :

A spanish coastal town, situated a mere 6-7 kilometres south of Gran Alacant. It is mainly uncommercialised and boasts a picturesque harbour from where the local fishing boats can be seen off- loading their daily catch, which can then be purchased from the outdoor market within the hour, or indeed sampled in one of the town's many fine restaurants. There's a fabulous busy port complex by the harbour with many top class restaurants and bars - boasting spectacular views of the coast.

In the Town Centre there's a fabulous square boasting numerous bars/restaurants; shops and banks. A key feature is the 16th century fortress castle built in the military Renaissance style. Today it contains the chapel of the Virgin of Loreto. Near to the castle lie the ruins of the ancient Portus Illicitanus, where you can see the Roman "Palmeral" Villa from the early Empire and a 4th century Roman fish factory, in addition to numerous Iberian and Greek ruins.

Opposite the Hotel Polamar  - situated on the coastal part of the town - lies an aquarium displaying an array of different fish species and some of the fauna from the Santa Pola bay. The Sea Museum exhibits archaeological artefacts showing an extensive selection of historical maritime objects and gear.

With its typically Mediterranean climate - an average annual temperature of over 20 degrees Celsius - this makes the area an ideal spot for leisure and recreation throughout the year.
All manner of water sports can be found here and
the pristine beaches lend themselves perfectly for sunbathing and relaxing.

Pola Park is a pleasure/theme park
located just outside of Santa Pola town centre.   It's great for both adults and kids - and just the place to spend a few hours strolling around in the evening sun. There's a one-off admission to the park per person and then all the rides and facilities are free

Santa Pola has a transport infrastructure (including the Gran Alacant area) - operating from the town's bus station, which makes it easy for tourists and visitors to get to the town and travel around the area.
