Alicante is a 10-15 minute car ride or 35 minutes by bus from Gran Alacant.  Guardamar is a similar distance but to the south.  They are linked by the N332 road.  There are so many other coastal places worth a trip - linked through the N332 - you're lost for choice.

Elche is only 10-15 kilometres away and is the nearest commercial town.  It's known as Palm Tree City and it's plain to see why. The roadsides and numerous parks are strewn with palms and beautiful flower displays. It has many banks, shopping centres and bars/restaurants.

Guardamar is another beautiful coastal town.  It has a fantastic golden sandy beach which stretches as far as the eye can see.  There's also plenty of bars and restaurants on the seafront and it boasts one of the biggest mid-week markets in the area so it's well worth a visit.

Benidorm with all its attractions, including Terra Mitica theme park, Aqualandia Water Park and Mundomar Animal Park is around 35-45 minutes drive to the north. There are some beautiful places to the North of Benidorm as well, including Altea; Albir; Javea; Calpe and Denia.

Torrevieja is only a 25 minutes drive to the south and boasts one of the largest street markets in Spain. To the south of Torrevieja you'll cross the Costas to the Costa Calida and the Mar Menor.

If mountains is your thing then take a visit to Alcoy - you'll need to pick the motorways up through Alicante but it is fairly well signposted.

There are regular bus services to carry passengers to towns and cities across the length and breadth of the country including Alicante, Benidorm and Torrevieja. For golfers El Plantia and Bonalbar are less than 20 minutes drive away. Las Ramblas, La Campoamar, Villa Martin and Greenlands are all within 40 minutes drive.
